Setting up machines
Your company's administrators add and set up machines. Managers and viewers cannot, and cannot see machine passwords: a password lets a device write readings for your company.
Add a machine
- On Machines, press Add machine, or open Machine setup from the menu behind your initials.
- Give it a name and how often its gateway reports.
- Optionally copy the readings of a similar machine, yours or a Kealink example.
- Copy the machine id and password shown and put them into the gateway straight away.
The password is shown once. If it is lost, issue a new one on the machine's setup page, under Connecting the gateway. The old one stops working within a minute.
The setup page also shows the connection details for this machine, ready to paste.
Readings
Each reading has:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Key | Must match the name the gateway sends. Lowercase letters, digits and _, up to 40 characters. Capitals in what the gateway sends do not matter. |
| Label | The name people see |
| Unit | Such as °C or bar |
| Kind | A number, on and off, or text |
| Limits | Optional low and high limits for alerts |
Names the gateway sends that match no reading are listed on the setup page, with a button to add each one as a reading. Refused messages are listed there too, with the reason.
A reading added by mistake, or a machine that has gone, can be deleted at the bottom of its setup page, with everything it stored. You are asked to type its name first.
Run signal and OEE
For time in state and OEE, choose the machine's:
- Run signal: an on and off reading, usually the machine's own run output
- Down signal (optional): a fault or alarm reading
- Part counter, reject counter and ideal cycle time (optional, for OEE)
OEE is measured against shifts, so add your shifts further down Machine setup, with your downtime reasons and closed days (shutdowns and holidays, so they do not count against a machine).
